"Give peace a chance" - Statement IOC President Thomas Bach

Lausanne (IOC/FIL) The IOC President Dr Thomas Bach's letter of 11 March 2022 to the Olympic Movement is entitled "Give Peace a Chance".

In it, the IOC President describes the war in Ukraine as so unique because it has a global reaction and far-reaching consequences for the world. Bach writes of a turning point in world history that poses unique challenges for the Olympic Movement: "We sincerely hope that these challenges can be overcome as soon as possible and that peace can be restored. This does not make us forget the victims of the other too many wars in our fragile world. Please join me in solidarity with them by making an appeal, a plea, a call to all political leaders around the globe: Give peace a chance!"
