4th EBERSPAECHER Luge World Cup 2025/26
Half-time in Sigulda: Taubitz leads a close trio, Loch in front
Sigulda (FIL/03.01.2026) Part two of the Olympic preparations for the women and men in the EBERSPAECHER Luge World Cup. As in Park City, the singles races in Sigulda will also be held over two days. World champion Julia Taubitz leads the women's competition. The German took 41.933 seconds for her first run. “I really enjoy luge in Sigulda,” revealed the 29-year-old. Lisa Schulte also had fun, as the Austrian was only one thousandth of a second slower. The American Summer Britcher was only five thousandths behind Taubitz. These small gaps guarantee excitement in the second run on Sunday, January 4. Behind this trio are the other lugers with good chances for day two. Emily Fischnaller (USA) is fourth at the halfway stage, 0.027 seconds behind Merle Fräbel (Germany/0.062 seconds behind) and Elina Bota (Latvia/0.156 seconds behind).
The men's competition is also very close at the top. Felix Loch (Germany) achieved the fastest time in 47.738 seconds. Nico Gleirscher (Austria) was 0.019 seconds slower, while his compatriot Jonas Müller was 0.038 seconds behind Loch's best time. World champion Max Langenhan (Germany/0.063) follows in fourth place ahead of David Gleirscher (Austria/0.102) and Kristers Aparjods (Latvia/0.194). Dominik Fischnaller (Italy) and Wolfgang Kindl (Austria) provided some curious moments. Both made the same mistake when they exited curve 11 too late, managed to conjure their way through curves 12 and 13, but then tipped over in curve 14.
