Hannah Prock celebrates her first World Cup victory

Damen Podium, Weltcup Winterberg 2025

Winterberg (FIL/07 Dec 2025) Hannah Prock celebrates her first victory at the EBERSPAECHER Luge World Cup in Winterberg: The Austrian won in 1:51.684 minutes ahead of Merle Fräbel (Germany/0.030 seconds behind) and her teammate Dorothea Schwarz (0.209). It was the 20-year-old's first visit to the podium.

“It was really fun to race,” said Prock. In the first run, she laid the foundation for her first World Cup victory with a flawless run in 55.742 seconds. “Hannah had two great runs,” praised Fräbel. “I usually love cold and hard ice, but it worked out this way too,” said the 25-year-old. The World Cup opener was actually supposed to take place on her home track in Innsbruck-Igls, which would have meant a home victory. But she also likes the track in Winterberg. At the 2019 World Championships, she finished second in the U23 classification behind Julia Taubitz (Germany).

Fräbel was very satisfied with her two runs. In the second run, she improved significantly with a best time of 55.804 seconds. “It's a bit annoying with the three hundredths,” she said.

Anna Berreiter (Germany) followed in fourth place, 0.298 seconds behind, ahead of Lisa Schulte (Austria/0.326) and World Cup debutant Anka Jänicke (Germany/0.439).

When world champion Julia Taubitz crossed the finish line, she could only shake her head. She had made mistake after mistake from start to finish. The result: 56.339 seconds and only the 15th fastest time. In the final results, the overall World Cup winner came in twelfth, 0.701 seconds slower than winner Prock.
