Istanbul (pps) The long-time Executive Director Hartmut Kardaetz has been appointed Honorary Member of the International Luge Federation (FIL). At the 61st congress in Istanbul, Turkey, the FIL honored the work of Kardaetz, who served the FIL for more than 17 years, from 1993 until 2010.

Kardaetz, who returned to live in Berlin with his wife Ingrid after his retirement, was instrumental in the opening of the FIL office in 1993. Before working for the FIL Kardaetz served as a Secretary General within the Federation of the former East Germany.

The FIL now has six living Honorary Members.
