yeongChang (RWH)  There will be a second attempt to homologate the future Olympic track in PyeongChang, Korea, when a total of 13 nations carry out test runs from 24 to 30 October. The first attempt had to be abandoned in spring 2016 owing to technical problems with the ice on the lower section of the track.

In addition to host country Korea, twelve nations will each send one athlete to test the new facility at the behest of the two Vice Presidents of the International Luge Federation (FIL), Claire DelNegro (USA) and Einars Fogelis (LAT). The World Federation has deliberately invited athletes of different skill levels.

Tatiana Ivanova (RUS), Alex Gough or Kimberly McRae (both CAN) and Olena Stetskiv (UKR) have been selected from the women’s event. The men will be Chris Mazdzer (USA), Felix Loch (GER), Valentin Cretu (ROU) and Dominik Fischnaller (ITA). Peter Penz/Georg Fischler (AUT), Andris Sic/Juris Sics (LAT) and Lukas Broz/Antonin Broz (CZE) will test the future Olympic track on behalf of the doubles teams.
