Björn Walden from Sweden celebrated his 70th birthday in circle of friends and family on November 6, 2004. Mr. Björn Walden was participant of the 1957 FIL Congress in Davos/SUI where the FIL was founded as the autonomous International Luge Federation. In many national and international functions B. Walden proved his great engagement and specialized knowledge. Thus, he was President of the Swedish Luge Federation for 21 years and Vice President of the FIL for eight years.

For his merits at the development of the international sport of luge he received the FIL Medal of Honor in Bronze, Silver, and Gold, and finally became Honorary member of the FIL. On the occasion of a Presidiums meeting, the Presidium of the FIL with President Josef Fendt on top took the opportunity to personally congratulate him to this great day.
Again, the FIL cordially congratulates Mr. Björn Walden to his 70th birthday and thank for his long work for the benefit of the Swedish and international sport of luge.
