Honors for Wolfgang Schädler and Günther Beck in Liechtenstein

Vaduz (FIL/18 Dec 2022) The Liechtenstein Olympic Committee presented the Liechtenstein Sports Awards in a sports gala, the "Night of Sports." With the sports gala, the Liechtenstein Olympic Committee thanked the athletes, the many volunteers and all people who are committed to sports in Liechtenstein.

The highlight of the Liechtenstein "Night of Sports" was the presentation of the LLB (Liechtensteiner Landesbank) Sports Awards to the athlete and team of the year. 
The country's top female and male athletes were honored for their extraordinary performance. With this award, the Liechtensteinische Landesbank and the Liechtenstein Olympic Committee thank the nominees, who always represent the basic Olympic values of performance, friendship and respect.

Thereby, long-time FIL official Günther Beck was honored as Official of the Year and luge coach Wolfgang Schädler for his international successes. "That I was honored by the Liechtenstein Olympic Committee as Official of the Year at the LLB Night of Sports 2022 at the SAL in Schaan made me very happy. This is a great recognition and it is nice to see that my commitment and also that of Wolfgang Schädler are recognized," says Günther Beck.

The organizer of the LLB Night of Sports is the Liechtenstein Olympic Committee (LOC). The LOC is the governing body of all sports federations and clubs in Liechtenstein. In the country, more than 15,000 athletes are involved in 136 clubs, which are members of 48 associations. The LOC promotes Liechtenstein's popular, competitive and elite sports. It represents the sporting nation of Liechtenstein and develops the country's sport system together with the associations. 
Incidentally, the "Sportsman of the Year" award has existed in Liechtenstein since 1970, and the list of Liechtenstein sportswomen, sportsmen and teams of the year also includes internationally renowned names. They stand for performance, fairness and respect.
