Sochi (pps) Russia’s luge team that is headed by European champion Tatjana Ivanova will not participate in the International Training Week on the future Olympic luge track for the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi from November 5-14, 2012. According to the rules of the International Luge Federation (FIL), hosts Russia can practice anytime at the “Sliding Center Sanki”. Prior to the 2012 Luge World Championships “back home” in Altenberg, Germany’s lugers did not participate in the International Training Week in 2011 either. Three weeks before the official start of the 2012-2013 Viessmann Luge World Cup series in Innsbruck-Igls (Austria) on November 24-25, a total of 27 nations have announced their participation at the International Training Week.
