Two-time World champion set track record in preliminary runs

Innsbruck-Igls (pps) David Moeller of Germany opened the SUZUKI Challenge Cup season at the end of November with a bang. Already in the preliminary runs, the two-time World champion improved the almost nine-year old track record of Austria’s luge idol Markus Prock (48,679 seconds) on the Olympic track in Innsbruck-Igls to 48.533 seconds and thus qualified effortlessly for the final. Clocking 48.752 seconds in the final Germany’s 2008 World silver medallist then outclassed two-time Olympic champion Armin Zoeggeler in the final and thus cashed the prize money of 2,000 euros.

In the women’s singles two-time World champion Tatjana Huefner of Germany earned the prize money. In the final, the defending Viessmann Luge World Cup champion (39.787 seconds) clearly defeated team mate and European champion Natalie Geisenberger (39.925 seconds). Veronika Halder of Austria took third place.

Two-time World champions Tobias Schiegl-Markus Schiegl brought a lot of joy to the hosts in Austria. Clocking 39.627 seconds in the final, the current World bronze medallists defeated four-time World champions Patric Leitner-Alexander Resch (39.755 seconds) of Germany.
