Calgary (pps) Sylke Otto undoubtedly is one of the favourites in the women’s single for the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Torino, Italy (February 10-26), with her 2002 Olympic gold medal and altogether four World titles. Should she retain her Olympic victory, she would be the most successful women’s luger of all times. “But I don’t slide for statistics, just for myself“, she said in an interview with FIL Press. “I have the will for the Olympic victory, but in the end I would be pleased with any medal.” It is yet open whether this winter will be the last of Sylke Otto’s active career. “I shall decide next summer. By then I will now whether I still like it and how my health is. I shall then decide whether I will continue for another season. But really only one”, the 36-year-old disclosed.
