Lake Placid (pps) The international racing season for the doubles sled of Christian Niccum and Jayson Terdiman has come to an end. Ongoing back problems with Niccum, particularly in the last month, have forced him to seek medical help. He will go to D.I.S.C. Sports and Spine Center in Marina del Rey, California, and consult with Dr. Robert Bray, Jr. after the weekend. “I did a lot of work over the summer to fix my back issues," said 33 year old Niccum of Woodinville, Washington. “But after Christmas, each week the back got progressively worse. Now I want to take the proper precautions so that it doesn’t worsen.” Niccum and Terdiman, of Berwick, Pennsylvania, a first-year doubles team, were fast from the start of fall training on Oct. 15. In their opening race of the Viessmann World Cup the duo finished fifth, and then backed it up with a bronze medal a week later in Winterberg, Germany. Niccum and Terdiman placed 11th at the World Championships last weekend in Cesana, Italy. They are seventh in the overall standings of Viessmann World Cup.
