PyeongChang (RWH) The International Olympic Committee IOC has presented an analysis of Sochi 2014 in PyeongChang, South Korea, which will be hosting the next Winter Olympics in 2018.

More than 2,800 athletes from 88 nations took part in the first ever Winter Games to be held in Russia, and over 40% of them were women. Medals were awarded for 98 events in seven sports.

More than four billion viewers all over the world had the option of watching the broadcasts from Sochi, with over 100,000 hours of coverage in the two weeks from 7 to 23 February 2014, a good half of which (60,000 hours) were provided via digital platforms. The social media channels were a particularly important source of information on the Winter Games, with over 37 million fans following the Olympic events on the various social networks.

The Sanki Sliding Centre, which showcased the Olympic ice track events, will be hosting the Viessmann World Cup final for the athletes belonging to the international Luge Federation (FIL). The competitions on 28th of February and 1st of March are at the same time the European Championships of the FIL.
