Singapore (pps) The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is certain that the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turin are on a good way. „In the past few months, great progress was made especially with regard to transportation, accommodation and financial issues“, said IOC Director Gilbert Felli in Singapore. Earlier, the Organizing Committee TOROC delivered a progress report to the Executive Board. The budget, which amounts to 1.1 million Euros, has been secured through government guarantees in the meantime. The extension of the transport network has made considerable progress.
Therefore it was considered, said Felli, to expand the capacity of spectators at the mountain venues. „This is only true for certain days, on which not too many events coincide there”, added Felli. The maximum number of spectators at the luge competitions is limited to 7,500.
