Singapore (pps) The number of doping controls at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turin is increased to 1,200. This represents an increase of 45 per cent compared to Salt Lake City 2002. This was now decided by the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Singapore.
Since the 2002 Games, the IOC has been taking over responsibility for the supervision of doping controls from the opening until the closing of the Olympic Village. Especially in unannounced doping controls, spectacular results were achieved in 2002 (Johann Mühlegg/Spain) as well as in 2004 (Kostas Kenteris/Greece).
For five years, no violation of the doping rules has been registered within the scope of the International Luge Federation (FIL).
