Sigulda (pps) Under the eyes of Jacques Rogge, President of the International Olympic Committee, IOC, the final in the Viessmann Team Relay World Cup presented by Money Service Group ended with a big surprise. The team of Russia with Tatiana Ivanova, Albert Demchenko and the doubles’ Vladislav Yuzhakov-Vladislav Makhnutin took the top spot on the podium, defeating Italy’s team with Sandra Gasparini, Armin Zoeggeler and Christian Oberstolz-Patrick Gruber as well as team Germany with Tatjana Huefner, Jan Eichhorn and Toni Eggert-Sascha Benecken to second and third place respectively.
During his trip to the artificially-iced track in Sigulda Jacques Rogge, currently on a private visit to the National Olympic Committee of Latvia in Riga, saw a flawless Team Relay Event. This spring, Rogge will have the personal mandate to make a final ruling if the Team Relay Event of the International Luge Federation, FIL, will be included within the programme of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.
In the overall rankings, Germany took first place (570 points) ahead of Italy (440) and Russia (426).
