Italians successful World Cup athletes testing at Imola

Imola (PMA) - Those athletes of the Italian federation, who landed on a World Cup podium last year , where invited to a special experience. A sponsor of the Italian squad invited the athletes to a race track, the Autodromo Internationale Enzo e Dino Ferrari at Imola. There the sportspeople had the possibility to test their skills as racing drivers.

Together natural track lugers Patrick Pigneter, Florian Clara, Alex Gruber, Evelin Lanthaler, Greta Pinggera and Sara Bachmann participated at the event. “The instructor was leading us through the circuit. He was connected to us via radio. There was always help and advice. We drove with three cars in a row per run. The highlight was for sure driving a super sports car, in which speeds of up to 250 kilometres per hour are reached”, reports Greta Pinggera.

Athletes who are in contact with higher speeds show less reverence with fast cars. The natural track lugers enjoyed their day at Imola and gained some valuable experience.

“Race car driving is very similar to natural track sports. You have to break early bevor the corners. Then you turn into the corner and you have to be close to the apex. After that you can accelerate, which is easier with a car”, smiles Pinggera, who scored her maiden World Cup win last season at Umhausen.
