Cesana (pps) For the second time in the history of the International Luge Federation, FIL, Italy will host World Championships – this time on the artificially-iced track in Cesana. The first championships in Italy were carried out on the natural track in Olang in 1971. At that time the winners were Elisabeth Demleitner (FRG) in the women’s singles, Karl Brunner in the men’s singles as well as Paul Hildgartner-Walter Plaikner (all of Italy) in the doubles’. Today, Plaikner acts as head coach of the Italian team as well as Chairman of the FIL Technical Commission. Karl Brunner is coach of Norwegian’s lugers.
