Koenigssee (pps) The third event of the Luge World Cup series in Koenigssee concluded with the victory of Italy in the Viessmann Team Relay Event presented by INTERSPORT. Sandra Gasparini, Dominik Fischnaller and Christian Oberstolz-Patrick Gruber defeated the German team with Tatjana Huefner, Felix Loch and Tobias Wendl-Tobias Arlt – they all celebrated an individual victory at the Viessmann Luge World Cup and thus the team was considered top favorite in this event. Third place went to Russia with Tatiana Ivanova, Albert Demchenko and Vladislav Yuzhakov-Vladimir Makhnutin.

Similar to the first two World Cup stops, the US team finished in fifth position. Team Canada, winner of the season-opener in Innsbruck-Igls and then in second place in Whistler, had to make do with sixth rank this time round.

Germany, with 270 points to their credit, is currently heading the overall Viessmann Luge World Cup rankings, ahead of Canada (235) and Russia (210).
