Italy wins ahead of USA and Austria

 Königssee (RWH) The German team relay quartet has finally been beaten. In the first relay event of the Olympic year, the Italian team comprising Andrea Vötter, Dominik Fischnaller and the doubles duo of Ivan Nagler/Fabian Malleier took victory in the Viessmann Team Relay World Cup presented by BMW to subject the German squad to its first defeat of the season after three consecutive victories. The German team featuring Natalie Geisenberger, Tobias Wendl/Tobias Arlt and Johannes Ludwig was disqualified after a false start by doubles pairing Wendl/Arlt.

 The USA finished second with a line-up of Summer Britcher, Tucker West and Matt Mortensen/Jayson Terdiman. The Austrian team featuring Birgit Platzer, Wolfgang Kindl and the doubles duo of Peter Penz/Georg Fischler came home in third place.

 Despite being disqualified, Germany retains its lead in the overall standings with 300 points after four of six events, ahead of Canada (285) and Austria (
