Sigulda (pps) Canadian Jeff Christie and Latvian Andris Sics have been elected as the athletes’ representatives into the expert commissions of the International Luge Federation (FIL). Whilst 28 year old Christie was confirmed in his function, Andris Sics, who had won a silver medal together with his brother in doubles at the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver 2010, was able to stand up to US American, Julie Clukey in a run-off. Christie, who ranked 14th at the Olympic Winter Games in 2006 und 2010, will again be a member of the Sport Commission for another four years. In the Technical Commission, Andris Sics will replace his fellow countryman, Martins Rubenis, who did not run for office. The results of the athletes’ election were announced during the Team Captains’ Meeting taking place before the finals of the Viessmann World Cup in Sigulda, Latvia this coming weekend. In the field of Natural Track, Florian Batkowski (AUT / Sport Commission) and Anton Blasbichler (ITA / Technical Commission) were elected.
