The only luge athlete who could beat Georg Hackl at the Olympic Games

Berchtesgaden. Jens Müller, who with a total of five gold, three silver and five bronze medals at Olympic Winter Games, World and European Championships was one of the most successful luge athletes of all times, has unexpectedly ended his career. The Olympic Champion of 1988 in Calgary stated health reasons for his decision. Müller, the only luge athlete who could manage to beat three-times Olympic Champion at Winter Games, Georg Hackl, suffered at last from a disease in the area of the thoracic vertebra and rib joints.

The 2000 World Champion in men’s singles in St Moritz, who, besides this could also win three European Championship titles in men’s singles, should be working as coach for young talents with the German Federation (BSD) in the future.

Besides the Olympic Gold Medal of 1988, Müller also won an Olympic bronze medal in Nagano ten years later.
