Joint statement by the International Luge Federation (FIL) and the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (IBSF)

During the period 24 – 30 October 2016 both Federations have conducted test runs at the Alpensia Sliding Centre, PyeongChang. 21 athletes from 10 Nations represented

FIL while 30 athletes from 7 Nations participated on behalf of IBSF – all were accompanied by their coaches.

The International Federations sent sliding track experts to assess the technical requirements of the track. The two International Federations can confirm that all test runs have been successfully executed.

These Test runs on the new Alpensia Sliding Centre venue are part of the Homologation Procedure, which includes an assessment of the Field of Play technical specifications, venue management structure, infrastructure and operational aspects.

Once all items of the IF requirements have been put fully in place the Homologation Procedure will be completed.
