Jonas Müller faster than Felix Loch in Winterberg
5th EBERSPAECHER Luge World Cup
Winterberg (FIL/10 Jan 2026) Jonas Müller and Felix Loch share the victories in the men's EBERSPAECHER Luge World Cup. In Winterberg, Austria's Müller was once again the faster of the two. With a time of 1:42.899 minutes, he secured his second victory this winter ahead of Loch, making it his eighth World Cup victory overall. His German rival, who has won three times this season so far, was 0.105 seconds slower. Müller's teammates Nico Gleirscher (0.117 seconds behind) and Wolfgang Kindl (0.285) followed, ahead of World Champion Max Langenhan (Germany/0.347) and Italy's Dominik Fischnaller (0.636). David Gleirscher, another Austrian, came in seventh (0.642) ahead of Latvian Kristers Aparjods (0.715).
“I really like Winterberg,” said Müller in the winner's interview, “I achieved my first podium finish here.” He only had minor problems in the labyrinth. “That's where I lost time to Felix,” said the winner. While Müller laid the foundation for his success in the first run with a best time of 51.299 seconds, Loch caught up in the second run with the fastest time (51.423). “It was significantly colder and therefore faster than in training,” said the 36-year-old veteran, "so I made some changes to the sled for the second run. That gave me the confidence to go all out again. I'm completely satisfied with the time. Loch continues to lead the overall World Cup standings, but only by one point ahead of Müller. Nico Gleirscher was satisfied with his two runs, each of which was the second fastest. “I'm glad that I finally made it onto the podium this season,” said the 28-year-old Austrian.
