Königssee (RWH)  Julia Taubitz (GER),   Tucker West (USA) and Wojciech Chmielewski–Jakub Kowalewski (POL) are the 2016 U23 World Champions. The titles were won in a race-in-race format within the 46th International Luge Federation (FIL) World Championships on the artificial track in Königssee.

Julia Taubitz, who will also be competing in the Junior World Championships in Winterberg next week, had a lead of just six thousandths of a second on the silver medal winner, Summer Britcher from the USA. Bronze went to Russia’s Victoria Demchenko. In the doubles, Italian duo Florian Gruber–Simon Kainswaldner came second, with bronze going as last year to Korea’s Jin-Yong Park–Jung Myung. In the men’s singles, West was followed by David Gleirscher in second and Armin Frauscher (both from AUT) in third.
