Julia Taubitz Gesamtweltcup 2024

Sigulda (FIL/24. Feb. 2024) Julia Taubitz is the overall winner of the 2024 EBERSPAECHER Luge World Cup. The 27-year-old German finished third in Sigulda and won the Joska Crystal Globe for the fourth time. The Sprint World Champion finished all ten races on the podium and collected 895 points. But she was not completely satisfied. "It was a mixed bag today, as it has been all week," she said, "I didn't quite get it right at the start, which is annoying. I also drifted a bit out of curve 11, so it's always a bit rough and bumpy after that. She now hopes to find the right line for tomorrow's sprint.

Taubitz is now followed in the overall standings by her team-mate Anna Berreiter, who won her fifth World Cup race in 1:23.405 minutes, and Austria's Madeleine Egle. Both have 672 points. Egle finished only 14th, 0.614 seconds behind.

But also the winner Berreiter had her problems. "Both runs weren't one hundred percent perfect, they were only halfway good," she said, "but I can still be satisfied. Last year I went from seventh to first place and today I did it again".

Local hero Elina Vitola was happy with second place. She was 0.018 seconds slower than Berreiter. "I drove as well as I could," said the Latvian, "I didn't do as well as I would have liked in the lower part. That's a bit annoying". She also hopes to improve in the sprint.

World Champion Lisa Schulte (Austria/0.151) finished fifth behind Ashley Farquharson (USA/0.116). Zane Kaluma, third at the Junior European Championships, finished sixth in her individual debut on her home track, 0.156 back.
