Team Relay event - Gold for Italy with Dominik Fischnaller Park City (pps) Dominik Fischnaller has claimed his second gold medal to become the most successful participant at the 28th Junior World Championships of the International Luge Federation (FIL) in Park City in the U.S. state of Utah. After having won the junior men’s singles the 19-year old from South Tyrol also claimed gold with Sandra Robatscher and the doubles Florian Gruber-Simon Kainzwaldner in the Team Relay event Germany’s quartet with Caroline von Schleinitz, Florian Berkes and the doubles of Tim Brendel-Florian Funk earned silver on the 2002 Olympic track. The U.S. team with the new junior European Champion Emily Sweeney as well as Tucker West and Ty Andersen-Anthony Espinoza claimed the bronze medal. A total of 10 teams competed in the Team Relay event. Germany’s Tim Brendel-Florian Funk won the doubles event just one thousandth of a second ahead of their compatriots Julius Loeffler-Florian Kuechler. The bronze medal went to host U.S.A. with Ty Andersen-Anthony Espinoza. Already yesterday Emily Sweeney, who recently earned a 10th-place finish at the Viessmann Luge World Cup in Altenberg, relegated Caroline von Schleinitz and Nathalie Burkhardt (both of Germany) to second and third place, respectively. Right behind Fischnaller, who surprisingly claimed a third place at the Viessmann Luge World Cup in Koenigssee, his teammate Emanuel Rieder took the silver medal while bronze went to Austria’s David Gleirscher. Four nations have won at least one medal: Italy (2 gold – 1 silver – 0 bronze), Germany (1 – 5 – 1), the U.S.A. (1 – 0 – 2) and Austria (0 – 0 – 1).
