100 days ahead of the première of the Winter Youth Olympic Games
Innsbruck (pps) The première of the Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) is already looming on the horizon: Today (October 7, 2011), there are exactly 100 days left before the YOG will be kicking off in Innsbruck on January 13, 2012. And the Olympic host city of 1964 and 1976 seems to be well prepared.
“The Innsbruck Organising Committee heads into the final few months of preparation with an extremely organized and creative team”, explained Gian-Franco Kasper, Chairman of the IOC Coordination Commission and President of the International Ski Federation (FIS). “The entire team is working tirelessly to ensure an unforgettable event for the elite of young winter sports athletes.”
The first ever Winter Youth Olympic Games with athletes aged 14 to 18 from more than 70 countries will be carried out on January 13-22, 2012. Venue of the competitions in Luge, Bobsleigh and Skeleton is the 1976 Olympic track in Igls.
