Geisenberger, Zoeggeler and Wendl-Arlt the 2011 winners
Koenigssee (pps) Italian Armin Zoeggeler as well as Natalie Geisenberger and Tobias Wendl-Tobias Arlt of Germany were last year’s winners at the Viessmann Luge World Cup in Koenigssee. By the way – it is already a tradition that two-time Olympic and six-time World Champion Zoeggeler will celebrate his birthday in Koenigssee when he will turn 38 years of age on January 4. Last year, Geisenberger posted her only victory of the
2010-2011 season. With their second consecutive win in Koenigssee in January 2011, Wendl-Arlt successfully followed in the footsteps of their predecessors Patric Leitner-Alexander Resch who, between 2001-2002 and 2009-2010, earned seven victories on their home track. In the 2011 Team Relay Event Germany won ahead of Austria and Italy.
Built in 1969, the “oldest artificially refrigerated track” in Koenigssee will host its 31st World Cup since the first event in 1977. Thus, it is again record venue in the Viessmann Luge World Cup series ahead of Innsbruck-Igls that hosted its 30th event in November 2011.
