Korea sends two lugers to Lake Placid

Aileen Frisch

Lake Placid (RWH) In a change of plan, the Olympic host nation Korea will now be represented by two lugers at the Viessmann World Cup in Lake Placid. Aileen Frisch und Eungyun Sung have just registered to compete at the last minute in a bid to improve their starting positions at the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang (9-25 February 2018).

The rest of Korea’s luge team is keen to exploit its home advantage, opting to miss the two Viessmann World Cups in Lake Placid (USA) and Königssee (GER) in favour of training on the future Olympic track in Alpensia Sliding Centre. This is a privilege granted to Olympic host nations and no other countries.

The entire Korean luge team, under the leadership of head coach Steffen Sartor, will return to action at the Viessmann World Cup in Oberhof, Germany on January 13 and 14 2018.
