Lake Placid (RWH) Lake Placid in the US state of New York is set to host the congress of the International Luge Federation (FIL) for a second time. The FIL family gathered in Lake Placid for the first time back in 1980, when the 28th FIL Congress took place during the Winter Olympics. Aside from Lake Placid, the only other US cities to have hosted the FIL Congress were Salt Lake City in 1990 and Colorado Springs in 1998.

Lake Placid was the host city of the Olympic Winter Games in 1932 and 1980. The Viessmann Luge World Cup regularly comes to the artificial ice track on Mount Van Hoevenberg. During the 2016-2017 winter season, the challenging track will host the second round of the FIL’s most important racing series on December 2-3, 2016.
