Lanthaler races to victory

Latsch (PMA) - History was written at the women's race in Latsch, where Lanthaler and her team and roommate Greta Pinggera scored a double victory for Italy. Eleven years ago, Renate Gietl, Irene Mitterstieler and Renate Kasslatter celebrated a Italian one-two-three at the World Cup at Unterammergau. Since then, no nation scored a multiple victory at a women's event on natural track.

"It was a fantastic run. I like the track of Latsch very much. It is challenging and it takes many skills to finish the track in a fast time", states Lanthaler.

Ekaterina Lavrentyeva from Russia and local hero Sara Bachmann from Italy battled for the third position. Last year's Overall World Cup winner from Russia won with an advance of eight hundredths. Fifth place went to Austrian Tina Unterberger, who lost her Overall World Cup lead to Evelin Lanthaler.
