Innsbruck (pps) The Coordination Commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for the first Winter Youth Olympic Games has finished its fourth and final visit to the host city Innsbruck in Austria.

"The Innsbruck Organising Committee heads into the final few months of preparation with an extremely organised and creative team who are working tirelessly to ensure an unforgettable elite sporting event for the world's best young winter athletes," said Commission’s Chairman Gian-Franco Kasper (SUI), as well the president of the International Ski Federation (FIS).

The first ever winter version of the Youth Olympic Games with athletes aged 14 to 18 from more than 70 countries will take place from 13 to 22 January 2012. Venue of the competitions in Luge, Bobsleigh and Skeleton is the Olympic Bob Track of 1976 in Igls.
