Aileen Frisch secured fourth ticket to the Worlds in the women’s singles
Oberhof (pps) While last year’s winner, Corinna Martini of Germany, will compete in the upcoming Viessmann Luge World Cup in Winterberg this weekend (January 19-20, 2013), her teammate Aileen Frisch, 2012 Junior World Champion, just secured the fourth and last starting place for Germany’s women lugers at the 44th World Championships of the International Luge Federation (FIL) in Whistler (Canada) on February 1-2, 2013.
Apart from 20-year old Frisch, who claimed a third (Koenigssee) and two fifth places (Innsbruck-Igls and Altenberg) in the pre-Olympic season, Germany’s head coach Norbert Loch has nominated - as expected - Natalie Geisenberger, the new European Champion and current overall World Cup leader, and Olympic and four-time World Champion Tatjana Huefner. Last but not least there is Anke Wischnewski, winner of the season opener in Innsbruck, who earned the European bronze medal last weekend and currently holds second place in the overall World Cup rankings.
