Innsbruck-Igls (pps) Germany’s Anke Wischnewski had to wait eight years or, to put it differently, a total of 67 Viessmann Luge World Cup events: In the pre-Olympic season 2012-2013, on November 24, 2012, she finally claimed the podium’s top spot again in the World Cup series for the second time after the event in Altenberg, Germany, on November 13, 2004.
Apart from the now 35-year-old luger, last year’s winners on the Olympic luge track in Innsbruck-Igls were Olympic Champion Felix Loch and the doubles team of Tobias Wendl-Tobias Arlt (all GER). Winner in the Team Relay event was Germany’s quartet, ahead of the teams of Canada and Italy.
