Leon Felderer, Summer Britcher and Anna Berreiter elected as athletes' representatives for artificial track
Oberhof (FIL/21 Jan 2023) The 22-year-old Italian Leon Felderer, the 28-year-old US-American Summer Britcher and the 23-year-old silver medalist of Beijing 2022 Anna Berreiter (GER) were elected as athlete representatives of the International Luge Federation (FIL) by the active artificial track luge athletes.
The spokesperson elected from the athletes' representatives for artificial track and natural track luge has a seat on the FIL Executive Board. This seat was held by Chris Mazdzer of the USA for the past four years.
"I thank the athletes for their confidence in electing me as their representative. I am humbled and honored to have been elected to this position. As the athlete representative, I will ensure that the needs and concerns of all athletes in our beloved sport are heard and addressed. I look forward to working on the issues that matter most to athletes and promoting the values of our sport. My goal is to represent the opinions of us athletes in decisions that will change and shape the future of our sport and to keep everyone informed and involved," Felderer said.
Summer Britcher, who was elected for the second time as Athlete Representative and previously represented the athlete:s on the FIL Sports Commission, was pleased, "I am thrilled and honored to have been re-elected as Athlete Representative. I look forward to continuing to work with the FIL, Commission members and other athlete representatives to promote fairness and positive change in our sport."
In the post-Olympic winter of 2023, elections for the International Luge Federation's (FIL) athlete representatives were again on the agenda as scheduled. During the international training week for the 51st FIL World Championships in Oberhof (GER), all athletes of the artificial track had the opportunity to elect their athlete representatives.
The natural track luge athletes will elect their representatives during the World Championships in Romania. All athlete representatives will be elected for the next four years.
