New President to head Russia’s National Federation

Moscow (pps) Russia’s National Federation has a new president: Leonid Gart, who makes his living as general manager of the biggest building society in Moscow. His predecessor, Valeri Silakov, Member of the Executive Board of the International Luge Federation, FIL, is now 1st Vice President and Sports Director artificially-iced tracks. At the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, Canada, the Russian team closely missed an Olympic medal – Tatiana Ivanova and Albert Demchenko both took fourth places. At the European Championships in Sigulda, Latvia, the Russian team proved to be the most successful national federation with two gold medals for Ivanova and Demchenko. Russia will host the next Olympic Winter Games in Sochi in 2014.
