Lausanne (pps) Lillehammer will be the venue of the second Youth Olympic Winter Games. The Norwegian host city of the 1994 Olympic Winter Games was the only candidate to put forward a bid for this event which was now approved by the International Olympic Committee, IOC. “We are excited to be going back to Lillehammer, which hosted unforgettable Winter Games in 1994”, said IOC President Jacques Rogge. The Youth Games for athletes between 14 and 18 years of age celebrated their première in Singapore last summer; the inaugural Youth Winter Games will take place in Innsbruck on January 13-22, 2012. The luge, bobsleigh and skeleton events will be carried out on the artificially refrigerated track in Hunderfossen, in 1994 also venue of the Olympic events in these disciplines.
