Innsbruck-Igls (RWH) Just one final slide before leaving the track for good: two-time Olympic Champions Andreas and Wolfgang Linger will say goodbye to their fans in Innsbruck-Igls next weekend with a final slide down the track. The Tyrolean brothers, who have strong ties with their home region, will act as forerunners before the second run in the doubles on November 29. This truly spectacular end to a historic career is no more than can be expected of Austria’s most successful lugers of all time. The three-time World Champions, who retired from the sport after collecting silver at the Sochi Winter Olympics, will come full circle with their final appearance in Igls, the place that it all began. “We’ve never been able to say goodbye to our home supporters properly. And that’s why we’re sliding down the track one last time during the World Cup in our home country. It’s going to be very emotional,” said Andreas Linger. His brother Wolfgang added: “We’re really happy that we’re being allowed to say an official goodbye to competition in Igls after our many successes and wonderful experiences as high-performance athletes.”
