Altenberg (pps) The 2003 World Champions, Austrian Andreas Linger/Wolfgang Linger, repeat their success of the previous year at the Viessmann World Cup in Altenberg. The fifth of the 2004 World Championships banished with 1:28, 022 minutes the Italian Christian Oberstolz/ Patrick Gruber (1:28,216) and the German Sebastian Schmidt/ André Forker (1:28,278) to the ranks two and three at the season opening.
The winners of the OWG and the World Championship Patric Leitner / Alexander Resch (Germany) crashed in the first run and dropped out.
Wolfgang Linger (2003 World Champion):
“This is a super start for us in the new season. The preparation was ideal, except that we have not found a sponsor yet. However, such a success helps for this.”
Patrick Gruber (2004 World Championships’ third):
“This is an opening made to order. We are very satisfied. In such way, the season can go on!”
Sebastian Schmidt (2003/2004 Overall World Cups’ eight):
“We are glad and happy to reach the third rank. Perhaps, we could achieve more but in the second run we made a small fault. Now, we are looking forward to the next World Cup race in Sigulda. We like this track.”
