Winterberg (pps) With a heavy heart Corinna Martini (Winterberg, GER) has cancelled her participation in the Viessmann Luge World Cup in Winterberg. “It won’t work”, explained the European silver medallist with tears in her eyes after a test run in Winterberg on Monday. Her back aches and pains at the start are still too strong. In agreement with Germany’s national coach Norbert Loch she had taken a three-week long break and underwent a therapy in Bad Wiessee. Martini will now return there, hoping for a comeback at the Viessmann Luge World Cup event in Koenigssee (January 5-6, 2011). Similar to the Viessmann World Cup in Innsbruck-Igls, junior World champion Carina Schwab will again have the chance to give proof of her skills. At her debut last week-end she caused quite a stir setting up the third-best time in the second run.
