Luge athletes honored as Tyrol's team of the year

Innsbruck (FIL) The team of the Austrian artificial track luge athletes with Madeleine Egle, David Gleirscher and Thomas Steu/Lorenz Koller was elected team of the year in April 2021 in Tyrol and awarded with the "Viktor" trophy for the year 2020.

The decisive factor for the election of the sports fans in Tyrol was the European Championship title and the successes from 2020. World Championship gold in the 2021 team relay with Nico Gleirscher in the team will be taken into account in the election next year.

21.56 percent of the votes went to the luge quartet. The WSG Swarovski Wattens soccer team came in second and the luge doubles team of Thomas Steu and Lorenz Koller once again came in third (13.33%).

Olympic Champion David Gleirscher came fifth in the men's classification. Ahead of him in third place was natural track World Champion Thomas Kammerlander (12.47 %).
Because the annual sportsmen's gala in Tyrol had to be canceled for the second time due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the sportsmen's and women’s election initiators of the Tiroler Tageszeitung and ORF Tyrol personally delivered the "Viktors" to the winners.
