Berchtesgaden (RWH) Poland’s Marciej Kurowski is appointed new head coach of the development program of the International Luge Federation (FIL). The contract runs until the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing (CHN) and was now signed by FIL President Josef Fendt of Germany. Kurowski, a three-time Olympian, will be responsible for all practise camps and competitions of the FIL Group 1, the current team in the Viessmann World Cup, the FIL office in Berchtesgaden added. Peter Kinzel from the Czech Republic remains coach for Training Group 2, the new blood of the FIL.

33-year old Kurowski, who will be the athletic coach for both groups, started with luge in 2000. He finished 19th at the 2018 Winter Games and two times on 23rd place (2010 und 2014). As a member of the Polish team relay he achieved two times 8th place. A 16th position 2015 in Sigulda was his best result at FIL World Championships. At FIL European Championships he finished two times 5th with Poland‘s team relay.
