Madeleine Egle again faster than Julia Taubitz in Winterberg

Winterberg (FIL/06 Jan 2024) Two female lugers currently occupy an exceptional position in the EBERSPAECHER World Cup: Madeleine Egle and Julia Taubitz. In Winterberg, Austria's Egle was once again the fastest. It was her eleventh World Cup victory. The 25-year-old won in 1:51.392 minutes ahead of her German rival, who needed 0.029 seconds more for the two runs.
Third place went to Hannah Prock, who was the fastest in the Nations Cup on Friday. But she was already 0.305 seconds behind. "I was fast in Winterberg last year, but I made a mistake," said the 23-year-old Austrian after her second podium finish, "so I'm even happier to have two good runs this year.

Madeleine Egle was handicapped at the start due to a shoulder injury. Nevertheless, she had the second best start time in both runs behind Elina Vitola (Latvia). "I am really happy that the start went so well with my injured shoulder," said Egle. Despite the narrow defeat, Taubitz was also satisfied. "Today were the best runs of the whole week," the 27-year-old said. Her teamate Anna Berreiter was completely dissatisfied with her fourth place, 0.312 seconds behind. "The result is disappointing once again," said the German Champion, "it's not going well at all and I don't know how to change it.
Madeleine Egle hoped that she would not be the only one of the Austrian team on the podium. And she had bet on Lisa Schulte next to Prock. But Schulte didn't have a good day, especially in the second run and lost time again. 0.510 seconds behind Egle she finished fifth. She was followed by Ashley Farquharson, the first American (0.544 seconds behind) and the starting rocket Vitola (0.656).
