Sochi (RWH) Maksim Aravin of Russia has won the qualification race for the Viessmann Luge World Cup this weekend in Sochi, Russia. The 20-years-old was just four thousands of a second ahead of his team-mate Evgeny Voskresenskiy. Third place went to Riks Kristens Rozitis of Latvia. Winner in women’s race was Germany’s Aileen Frisch. Second and third place went to Ekaterina Katnikova and Victoria Demchenko, both competing for Russia. Victoria Demchenko is the daughter of Albert Demchenko, who has won three Olympic silver medals. In doubles the winners are Andrey Bogdanov/Andrey Medvedev followed by Austria’s Thomas Steu/Lorenz Koller and their team-mates Stanislav Maltsev/Oleg Faskhutdinov.
