Markus Kleinheinz appointed new ice manager in Innsbruck

Innsbruck (RWH) A former luger is set to take on responsibility for ice management at the artificial track in Innsbruck, Austria. Markus Kleinheinz, who won the overall Viessmann World Cup in the 2002/2003 winter season, will succeed Sepp Kienast as team leader for ice preparation. His first major test will come at the 47th International Luge Federation (FIL) World Championships in January 2017.
Kleinheinz, who celebrates his 40th birthday on 27 August, competed in two Olympic Winter Games, finishing fifth (at Nagano in 1998) and eighth (at Salt Lake City in 2002). The Tyrolean athlete finished fifth (2005) and sixth (2003) in the FIL World Championships.
