Salzburg (pps) Austria’s luge legend Markus Prock returns to the sports scene. The Olympic medal winner and multiple World champion was appointed as artificial track co-ordinator at a meeting in Salzburg upon request by the Austrian Federation’s President Friedl Ludescher and his deputy Jakob Wolf. The appointment was announced in a press release by the Austrian Luge Federation.
Prock’s first task is to build a coaching team around Robert Manzenreiter. Prock will also work at the Federal High Performance Centre being currently built in Innsbruck. Ludescher and Wolf both said they were happy that Prock was willing to take over responsibilities in the Austrian Luge Federation, particularly with regard to the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turin and the 2007 World Championships in Innsbruck.
Prock is starting his work highly motivated. “It is our aim to keep our athletes at the world’s top and especially to close the gap to the German team”, Prock said.
