Max Langenhan continues his winning streak.

Max Langenhan, Winterberg 2024

Winterberg (FIL/07 Jan 2024) Max Langenhan has not forgotten how to win in the new year. The 24-year-old German won his twelfth World Cup race at the EBERSPÄCHER Luge World Cup in Winterberg. His tenth success in a row. Only at the German Championships, held after the Christmas holidays on the World Championship track in Altenberg, he had to settle for second place behind Felix Loch.

On the 1324 meters long track in Winterberg, the athlete from Thuringia achieved the best times of 51.885 and 51.810 seconds. The total time was 1:43.695 minutes. "I would have loved to give the track workers a track record," said Langenhan looking back at his 51.640 seconds from a year ago, "but it wasn't their fault that it didn't work out, it was my fault. I was too bad at the start and on the track today. Nevertheless, I'm happy to have won.

Men's Singles Podium, Winterberg 2024

Dominik Fischnaller (Italy) was already 0.176 seconds behind in second place. He was only four thousandths of a second slower than Langenhan in the first race. "You can't beat Max at the moment, he just doesn't make any mistakes," said the 30-year-old from South Tyrol, "if I had gone clear at the front, it would have been close for sure. He thanked his trainers and coaches "for preparing my sled so well".

The podium was completed by Latvia's Kristers Aparjods (0.182 seconds behind), who improved from fifth place with a flawless second run. This was also due to the mistakes of Austria's Jonas Müller and Wolfgang Kindl. They were third and fourth respectively after the first run, but dropped back to sixth (Müller/0.258) and fifth (Kindl (0.257). Felix Loch also benefited from these mistakes and improved from seventh to fourth place (0.247).
