Max Langenhan, Weltcup 2024

Max Langenhan has to cancel his start at the World Cup final in Sigulda

Sigulda (FIL/28. Feb. 2024) Luge World Champion Max Langenhan will not be competing in the EBERSPAECHER Luge World Cup Final in Sigulda, Latvia, next weekend, March 2 and 3, 2024. This decision follows an injury that the 25-year-old from Thuringia sustained to his back last Sunday during the first run of the 8th EBERSPAECHER World Cup in Latvia. Despite being in pain, he still managed to finish the race and then came third in the sprint.

Team doctor Dr. Lutz Kistenmacher has sent Langenhan, who secured the big crystal globe of the overall World Cup winner after the tenth of twelve World Cup races, back to Germany for further diagnosis and treatment. "As a precaution, we have taken Max out of the World Cup team due to his back injury. This needs to be treated immediately and health comes first. We have to think about the young athlete's future and must not take any health risks," said German head coach Norbert Loch.

Max Langenhan deeply regrets not being able to take part in the World Cup final in Sigulda and thanks his fans for their support. "I now have to concentrate on recovering as best I can and getting back on the track as quickly as possible," said exceptional athlete Langenhan.
