Revenge successful: Max Langenhan wins on his home track in Oberhof
Oberhof (FIL/26 Jan 2025) After the quadruple success of the Austrians at the third EBERSPAECHER World Cup in Oberhof, Max Langenhan and Felix Loch now took the first places in the 7th race of the season on the same track. The German men have taken revenge.
On his second visit to the ice track in Thuringia, World Champion Langenhan won in 1:25.895 minutes, ahead of Loch, who was 0.239 seconds behind. “In December, Felix and I made too many mistakes, the Austrians, especially Jonas Müller and Nico Gleirscher, did well,” Langenhan compared the two races, “today it was the other way around. Except for Wolfi Kindl, all Austrians made more or less mistakes and we didn't. That's why Felix and I were ahead.” For Langenhan, his 17th World Cup victory was the first ‘real’ victory on his home track.

So far, he only has a sprint victory to his name. Felix Loch was also satisfied with his second place. “If you don't get it right at the start, you don't stand a chance in Oberhof, but today it worked out perfectly twice,” said the 35-year-old veteran. And then he became philosophical: “In the end, you just have to go down straight. Both Max and I managed that very well today.”
Of the strong Austrian team, Wolfgang Kindl was the best this time. In third place, he was 0.362 seconds behind the winner. He was followed by three compatriots: Nico Gleirscher 0.428 seconds back, Jonas Müller (0.459) and David Gleirscher (0.514). “It's clear that the Austrians can be beaten,” said winner Langenhan, ‘but it's a tough fight and you have to squeeze out every thousandth of a second.’ Dominik Fischnaller (Italy/0.585) and Kristers Aparjods (Latvia/0.782) followed in the other places.
