Host Germany most successful luge nation Altenberg (pps) Even though host Germany missed their own aim of claiming four gold medals at the World Championships in Altenberg, the German Bobsleigh and Sled Sports Federation, BSD, was still the most successful federation with three gold medals (Tatjana Huefner, Felix Loch and the relay team) as well as one silver (Toni Eggert-Sascha Benecken) and one bronze medal (Natalie Geisenberger). Thanks to the two doubles teams of Andreas Linger-Wolfgang Linger (gold) and Peter Penz-Georg Fischler (bronze), Austria secured the second position on the medal table. Third place went to Russia with three silver medals (Tatiana Ivanova, Albert Demchenko and the relay team).
